Urfa Chili (Urfa Biber) | Turkish Smoky Dark Chili

Urfa chili, also called “Urfa biber” or “isot pepper,” originates from the Urfa region of southeastern Turkey. These distinctive dark burgundy-black flakes are unique in the chili world — sun-dried during the day and wrapped at night to trap moisture, creating an oily, dense texture with a complex flavour of dark chocolate, smoked tobacco, dried fruit, and gentle heat. With a Scoville rating of only 7,000–8,000, Urfa chili is more about depth and flavour than heat. It is extraordinary in dips, pasta, eggs, grilled meats, and spiced desserts.
